Custom Wafer Probers

Most probing challenges can be solved by configuring one of our standard platforms with the right accessories and options. But not all of them.

When standard isn't enough, we build to your specification. Our team has decades of experience designing bespoke wafer probing solutions for some of the most demanding applications in the industry – delivered at a realistic cost.

What we've built for

We have designed custom solutions for MEMS, high voltage, photonics, compound semiconductors, flexible and printed electronics, and optoelectronics including VCSELs and MicroLED devices. Custom builds have included specialist wafer handling for thin or fragile wafers, bespoke chuck systems, singulated device testing and reverse side illuminated integrating spheres using glass or quartz chucks.

Case examples
Dual-stage prober with 12" integrating sphere

A medical imaging customer needed to test devices at wafer stage to identify failures before packaging. We designed a dual-stage prober with a 12" integrating sphere positioned close to the underside of the wafer, enabling vertical probe card technology for high-end production testing.

Flying arm prober

A customer needed to test irregular probing geometries across large area devices and panels. We added two height-sensing probes capable of independent movement from the bespoke XY chuck stage, allowing testing along the edges of large area devices.

360° chuck

An optical device customer needed simultaneous probing on opposite sides of each device without obscuring any part during testing. We developed a 360° chuck solution allowing each side to be tested in sequence while keeping the detector above the device unobstructed throughout.

Laser system for MEMS

To measure deflection angles on MEMS devices, we sourced a specialised laser, assembled and configured the optics, integrated them with the wafer prober, and wrote new software to provide full control of the laser interface.
